User Experience Engineer II

The User Experience Engineer creates easy and delightful experiences for users interacting with ANSYS products and services. Working closely with product managers, development teams, and other designers, the UX engineer assesses the functional and content requirements of a product, develops storyboards, creates wireframes and task flows based on user needs, and produces visually detailed mockups that convey the desired look and feel for the product. A passion for visual design and familiarity with UI trends and technologies are essential in this role, enabling the UX engineer to bring fresh and innovative ideas to a project, and assist with asset creation. The UX engineer may also assist in usability testing and evaluation of products.

•Design cutting-edge, engaging user interfaces for both desktop and web-based applications
•Assist in the design of web portals, user forums, and other online experiences
•Assist in the creation of icons and other assets as needed
•Use industry best practices and design standards to define design criteria
•Perform reviews of task and workflow analyses
•Conduct user research and create user personas
•Apply user-centered design principles to maximize ease of use and visual appeal
•Effectively communicate ideas to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
•Work closely with developers to ensure technical capability and quality delivery of designs
•Take design direction, and handle moderately complex UX projects with little assistance
•Assist in usability testing and evaluation of products

•Bachelor’s degree in User Experience (UX) Design, HCI, or related field,
OR any 4-year degree (Computer Science or Engineering preferred) plus an associate or post-graduate degree, diploma, or certificate in UX Design
•Minimum of 5 years of experience in UX or UI Design
•Functional knowledge of creative applications such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe In-Design
•Good understanding of HTML, HTML5, CSS, and browser capabilities
•Strong grasp of general design fundamentals like color theory and typography
•Demonstrated ability to define approaches to moderately complex design problems and effectively convey solutions through presentations and design specifications
•High flexibility with strong communication and presentation skills that enable effective collaboration in a diverse environment

•Master’s degree in User Experience (UX) Design, HCI or related field, and 2+ years of experience in UX or UI Design
•Functional knowledge of prototyping tools like Justinmind or Axure
•Strong portfolio showing creative skills, ability to generate solid design ideas, and thorough understanding of UX design process
•Experience in web design and/or graphic design a definite asset
•Agile and Lean UX experience highly desired
•Background or basic understanding of ANSYS products preferred
•Ability to prioritize and manage conflicting demands in a multi-team, agile environment
