Software Engineer - Industrial Placement

Salary: £18,000 per annum

This role is only available to current undergraduates who are entitled to work in the UK.

ANSYS has a global footprint of development and customer support teams. At Milton Park we have a team responsible for the build and integration of our software packages.
We can offer a student placement for up to 12 months duration in our Software Development Team. We offer the opportunity to work with a leading-edge software company with a highly skilled and professional workforce. As a member of the ANSYS team, you will work within the software build team and will be given opportunities to gain experience in a wide range of areas. You will be a part of a team working to deliver new systems and working environments for the global business.

Essential Job Functions/Accountabilities:
Day to day activities and responsibilities, depending on experience and skills, may include;

  • Develop and maintain tools for build and testing automation
  • Maintain regular builds and packaging of ANSYS software
  • Communicate with other Build Engineers, Software Developers and Testers as part of the wider, worldwide development team.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate in a Computer Science, IT or related subject
  • Experience of Python Programming, YAML, JSON, Perl and Go programming language
  • Experience with Version Control software (Git)
  • An inquisitive, pro-active and methodical approach to work.

It would be advantageous, but not essential, to have some of the following:

  • An interest in exploring new capabilities of Continuous Integration System features
  • Experience of Linux Systems/Shell Scripting
  • Experience of high level languages like C, C++ and Fortran
  • Experience of Source Control Systems
  • Experience of Automation Frameworks (TFS, Teamcity, Jenkins)
  • Experience of Software development tools, including compilers.
