Software Developer (Discovery) - Industrial Placement

Salary: £18,000 per annum
This role is only available to curent undergraduates who are entitled to work in the UK.

We can offer student placement vacancies for up to 12 months at Horsham. We offer the opportunity to work with a leading-edge software company with a highly skilled and professional workforce. As a member of the ANSYS team, you will work closely with the senior developers in the UK and abroad and will be given opportunities to gain experience in a wide range of areas. You will see the complete product development lifecycle, including requirements capture, planning, design, coding development, testing, documentation and release. Initially working on the GUI, as you gain experience you will exposure to full stack development.

Essential Job Functions/Accountabilities:
Day to day activities and responsibilities, depending on experience and skills, may include;
  • Software development, including code refactoring, object orientated design, optimisation of testing processes, development of testing APIs, and defect resolution
  • Design and implementation of new features, user experience and infrastructure for the production software
  • Using the software to resolve real engineering problems, support development activities, and customization
  • Unit and regression testing, as well as software configuration management

ANSYS software utilizes numerous languages including C, C++, C#, Fortran etc, as well as, scripting languages such as Perl, Jscript, Python, Bourne shell and make. You will not be expected to know all these languages, but may be asked to use a variety of them and will be given the opportunity to learn new ones.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
  • Undergraduate in a Computer Science or related subject
  • Experience in one or more programming languages is desirable.
  • Interest in engineering simulation software (Computational Fluid Dynamics or Finite Element Analysis)
  • An inquisitive, pro-active and methodical approach to work.
