R&D Engineer

SUMMARY
Seeking an outstanding candidate to join the team responsible for the industry leading computational electromagnetic (CEM) engines in the gold standard ANSYS HFSS simulation software product. We welcome applicants with strong background in various CEM techniques with special focus on domain decomposition (DDM) techniques and general finite element methods (FEM). The successful candidate will have a solid background in scientific software development, the ability to develop novel solution approaches, and experience in the application of scientific principles to analyzing problems. They will additionally possess experience writing CEM software and applying such software and electromagnetic theory to solving practical problems such as antenna design, signal integrity, or electromagnetic scattering. The hired applicant will join a team of R&D developers and is expected to work collaboratively with them in developing best-in-class commercial software for engineering simulation.

RESPONSIBILITIES
•Performs software development activities that may require design and implementations of new solver algorithms in C++
•Performs testing and benchmarking of implemented features. Investigate problems discovered by QA or product support and develop solutions
•Employs best software practices and help to maintain them through technical reviews and mentoring, also participating in planning and architecture

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
•PhD degree in Engineering, or related technical field, or a Master’s degree in Engineering, or related technical field with a minimum of two years of relevant experience
•Deep knowledge of electromagnetic theory and CEM
•Software development experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
•PhD degree is preferred
•HPC experience is preferred; shared and distributed memory development
•Ability to complete high quality work on schedule
•Experience in the entire development process, including specification, documentation, quality assurance, and use of software engineering tools is a plus
