Manager, Application Engineering

SUMMARY
The Application Engineering Manager is primarily responsible to profitably grow ANSYS business by providing effective and efficient sales support for a territory. The Application Engineering Manager is expected to spend a portion of their time mentoring and supervising team members, while spending the majority of their time personally performing pre-sales duties, technical business development and related customer-facing activities.

RESPONSIBILITIES
•Engage with key customer stake holders to establish the ANSYS value proposition; explore and uncover opportunities to drive software growth; develop and implement best simulation practices to improve customer efficiency
•Manage pre-sales technical team to drive software sales in new accounts and expand in existing accounts
•Partner with the sales manager to review opportunities, forecast, build pipeline and prioritize AE resources accordingly; develop ideas and support execution of new business growth initiatives
•Lead and participate in the development and mentoring of team members, including but not limited to providing the team with effective guidance to support key goals, recruit top talent, cross territory collaboration, and professional growth
•Contribute to a departmental focus on continuous process improvement; suggest and/or lead process improvement initiatives, and lead the effective implementation of resulting changes within the team

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
•BS in electrical engineering with the emphasis on high frequency electromagnetics or other technical discipline
•A minimum of 7 years of experience in an engineering environment, including post-BS academic experience
•Minimum of 2 years manager-level or Senior Engineer level work experience in application engineer, customer support, customer consulting services, or related customer facing activities.
•Demonstrated understanding of engineering practices and product development, technology and how these tools are used by our customers
•Strong verbal and written communication skills
•Strong organizational and time management skills
•Strong leadership and mentoring skills
•Ability to interact effectively with senior business managers and C-level executives


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
•MS or PhD degree preferred
•A minimum of 8 years of experience in an engineering environment is preferred
•Experience in hiring, and developing staff as well as dealing with underperforming employees
•Must have passion and drive for personal technical excellence and high performance
•Must have customer service aptitude and maintain customer focus
•Ability to travel up to 40%
