IT Technical Program Manager

SUMMARY
The IT Program Manager-Infrastructure is a key role in the effective delivery of ANSYS’s technology portfolio. Managing IT Infrastructure Programs/Projects tied to the ANSYS Product Roadmap is the primary responsibility for this job function. ANSYS will be requiring the use of an Agile Framework to deliver on the infrastructure roadmap. Collaborating with the IT infrastructure team this job will lead multiple IT infrastructure teams using agile frameworks such as Kanban and/or SCRUM. This position will require a working knowledge/understanding of IT infrastructure such as networks, data center, storage, servers, cloud, and should have an infrastructure or system engineering background. The job will also require experience with various Program Management functions such as harmonizing project and program components of a roadmap, managing their interdependencies, coordinating resource availability, managing budget allocation, and aligning project sequencing in order to best deliver the roadmap to meet business commitments against our operational constraints.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Accountable to Business sponsors for schedule, budget, and quality of all program elements. Escalates decisions to Business sponsors as necessary.
  • Understand and ensure adherence to IT infrastructure architecture and strategy.
  • Apply technical knowledge of Infrastructure to predict and avoid project roadblocks
  • Drives technical issue resolution and solution assessment to ensure delivery of infrastructure capabilities that enable the appropriate business processes and IT capabilities.
  • Keeps close, direct contact with IT Leadership Team and Business Relationship Managers to ensure that projects are delivering the expected business outcomes and contribute to strategic decisions.
  • Acts as the communications conduit to sponsors and program steering committee and conducts periodic briefings/status updates.
  • Provide overall leadership and management of IT programs and projects for the Product Business Units.
  • Collaborate with business and IT teams for business case formulation, gap analysis, ROI, and initial project estimates for cost-benefit analysis and portfolio planning.
  • Ensures alignment of project schedules, resource allocation and deliverables to meet program objectives.
  • Creates project and program level status reporting for IT and Business Unit leadership.
  • Providing clear achievable and effective direction, leadership and motivation to project team members; mentor team members to help develop their project management skills.
  • Sets performance objectives and incorporates feedback from team and organization for continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate with other IT Program Managers supporting related areas (e.g., Infrastructure).
  • Participate in the definition, documentation, deployment and training of program management processes, procedures, tools, and metrics across the enterprise.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree required, Preferably in Engineering or Computer Science
  • Working knowledge/understanding of data centers, network, storage, servers, cloud
  • Background in infrastructure implementation, maintenance and associated technologies
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience with Agile frameworks such as Scrum and or Kanban
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience as a Scrum Master or Kanban Flow Master
  • Managed daily scrums and various Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, backlog management etc.
  • A minimum of 7 years of IT leadership experience setting priorities and driving for results
  • A minimum of 5 years of project manager experience leading cross-functional projects
  • Strong understanding of project management concepts, processes, practices, procedures and tools
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to combine attention to detail with big picture perspective
  • Experience leading global teams
  • Proficient with project management and Agile tools, such as CA PPM, Microsoft Project and Microsoft TFS

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience leading infrastructure system implementations and upgrades
  • Experience in a software development company, and the supporting infrastructure requirements to support the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
  • Four or more years of experience with Agile frameworks such as Scrum and or Kanban preferred
  • Four or more years of experience as a Scrum Master or Kanban Flow Master preferred
  • PMP, Agile, Scrum, Kanban, Six Sigma, Change Management training and certification desired
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Proactively plans for managing and mitigating project risks
  • Demonstrates excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Proven ability to work with all levels within the organization, and across functional areas
  • Must be able to think creatively and possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proven track record of consistently meeting goals and objectives
  • Experience working with information technology vendors / suppliers
  • Experience implementing PM processes, developing templates and training users
  • Able to communicate technical issues in a non-technical manner to a diverse audience
