Executive and Managing Editor

The Executive and Managing Editor works across the organization to understand ANSYS goals and strategies and is responsible for managing, editing and producing ANSYS magazine publications to support strategic direction. These professional publications are produced for executives, engineering managers and engineers who use simulation software to predict how product designs react to physical forces. The position combines content editing (engineering, scientific, general, corporate, marketing and technical) with project planning/management, research and program support to produce brand and message consistency. This position works with all of corporate communications (web, graphics, social media, PR, events, video) as well as with other internal departments (such as product and industry marketing, sales, field marketing, customer support, documentation) to enforce style guidelines and standards while also ensuring the magazines contain quality content and are optimized for successful launch. The position indirectly manages a virtual team that includes staff and freelance writers and designers.

•Edit, proofread and coordinate distribution/completion of all ANSYS magazines
•Collaborate with corporate marketing, business units and industry team to determine magazine themes, appropriate article topics and promotional strategies
•Assign articles to internal and external writers and provide best-practice guidance and suggestions
•Enforce brand guidelines, formatting and AP style throughout review workflow and content development
•Supervise the magazine review process and the retrieval and usage of images, pull quotes and call to actions to ensure correct messaging and delivery
•Work with design team regularly to perfect the magazine layout through multiple review processes and supervise the delivery of final versions to the printer
•Collaborate with ANSYS web and creative teams to get digital magazine versions posted on the website and promoted through various channels such as blog, social and email
•Ensure appropriate image usage and organize submission release forms and permission sheet for every article/issue
•Assist corporate marketing team with identifying, prioritizing and repurposing content for all channels and audiences
•Manage the continuous coordination of work and relationships between internal staff and external stakeholders to ensure complete customer satisfaction and the successful launch of material
•Establish and maintain a strict schedule for all magazine deliverables, including planning ahead for future issues

•7 years’ experience as a technical content editor in a business setting
•Exceptional copy editing and proofreading skills, AP Style and Microsoft Word
•Experience working with and understanding technical content
•Bachelor’s degree in engineering, marketing, writing or related field
•A demonstrated capacity for understanding and applying marketing strategies and objectives
•Excellent written and oral communication skills
•Demonstrated ability to work effectively with all levels of management
•Exceptional project management and organizational skills
•Time management skills with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines while maintaining a high level of attention to detail

•B2B software experience useful
•Experience with Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop and Microsoft PowerPoint useful
•Marketing agency experience useful
•Prior experience working in a technical business setting with engineers or in engineering simulation preferred
•Prior experience working as a managing editor preferred
