Director, NA Professional Services

SUMMARY
The mission of ANSYS Professional Services is to guide ANSYS customers to learn, use, adopt, and succeed with ANSYS technology through the delivery of professional consulting and training services. The Professional Services Director is responsible for the regional Professional Services team and operations (consulting & training), business development, offerings, delivery, and processes & practices.

The Professional Services Director is the regional business leader of Professional Services and is responsible for the development and execution of the regional Professional Services business strategy and field operations. Specific responsibilities of the role include business planning, business development management, services delivery management, organizational capacity management, project management, organizational performance and career management, and partner management. In addition, this role will work with peers to ensure Professional Services has the right consulting & training portfolio aligned to our market segments to execute our mission. Finally, this role is customer-facing and will proactively engage ANSYS Sales, Presales, and customers to ensure an excellent, class-leading customer experience.

This role is not only responsible for regional Professional Services but will also actively work with different managerial counterparts within the region and globally. As a member of the Professional Services Leadership team and the ACE (ANSYS Customer Excellence) Extended Leadership team, the Professional Services Director will play a key role in driving and executing Professional Services and ACE strategy & initiatives at a national and international level.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead, manage, and mentor a cross-functional team of managers responsible for business development, services delivery management, project management, and personnel management, and/or other assigned Professional Services personnel
  • Will manage a geography with 30+ employees and $15M+ in revenue
  • Develop and provide business insight and outlook including business strategy, bookings & revenue forecasting, and pipeline
  • Lead and/or participate in management planning meetings, operational planning meetings, and develop/prepare business and operational business plans
  • Business Development
    • Establish differentiated market position for Professional Services
    • Work closely, Sales, ACE peers, and Professional Services team to identify, build, and manage a robust pipeline of Services opportunities
    • Work with Sales to understand Customer business initiatives/roadmap and collaboratively build an account plan for license and services
    • Active participant with Sales teams on leading/supporting the most strategic accounts and large-scale opportunities
    • Effectively scope, craft and position high value services proposals
    • Develop and manage Consulting and Training partners to support customers across market segments and grow ANSYS business through customer success
    • Promote a culture of “everyone sells” within Professional Services
    • Drive customer success stories and references
  • Services Delivery
    • Ensure appropriate team member assignment, oversight of project success, management of client escalations as needed, and all other aspects of delivering consistently high levels of customer success and satisfaction
    • Active participant with Sales teams on leading/supporting the most strategic accounts and large-scale opportunities
    • Plan and manage team skill mix and capacity to ensure plan achievement and growth
    • Optimize time-to-value of implementations and deployments for ANSYS customers
    • Build a culture of Customer Excellence to continuously innovate and refine processes/tools/techniques to maximize effectiveness and efficiency of the team
  • Serve as advocate for the team to get through roadblocks and other challenges preventing business success
  • Maintains effective communications with executives and management across the company to ensure proper development and deployment of the ANSYS Customer Excellence Team
  • Lead and participate in the development and mentoring of team members, including but not limited to providing the team with effective guidance to support key goals, recruit top talent, cross territory collaboration, and professional growth
  • Promote generation of reusable Professional Services pre-sales knowledge assets
  • Ensure smooth operation of annual performance review, salary adjustment, promotion and recruitment processes; lead annual budget planning process for the organization

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or other technical discipline
  • A minimum of 12 years of experience in an engineering environment
  • A minimum of 7 years of business and people management experience at ANSYS or other engineering software company
  • A minimum of 5 years of Professional Services management experience at ANSYS or other engineering software company
  • Demonstrated experience partnering with Sales, Marketing, and Development teams to meet goals
  • Thorough understanding of ANSYS products, technology and how these tools are used by our customers in their product development process
  • Excellent people management skills including ability to manage large teams, resolving conflict, coaching and developing others, promoting teamwork, and performance management
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage budget process and oversight

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • MS or PhD degree is preferred
  • Organizational and time management skills
  • Influencing skills; demonstrated ability to foster collaboration and coordination with personnel distributed across multiple global sites
  • Customer management skills
  • Ability to travel up to 50%
